Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is fine sand.
Notes:   5.4.2012
We removed the possible threshold in wall 365 to see if there is another threshold under it. The soil was hard. Only two stones are left on the south side of the gap, possibly from closing off an open doorway in 365. The western stone measured 33 x 13 x 19 cm and the eastern stone measured 27 x 20 x 27 cm. The western one was marble. The stones did not close off the wall's opening entirely.
A sample was taken from under the two large possible threshold stones to determine the context of this area in comparison to 646.
At elevation 86.76, a darker, ashier soil emerged in a semicircle at the southern end of the threshold. We continued to remove context 664 from around this darker soil in order to see if it was associated with context 646. this semicircle of darker material might continue into the room to the S of wall 365. In the N, 646 is visible where 664 was removed, indicating 664 was laid down on top of this context.
