| Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. It is silty sand. Material finish: squared boulders, internal wall; rounded. Material construction: regular courses. Material bonding: mud plaster. | |
| Notes: | The soil is siltier than that of the surrounding matrix. Stones on the interior of the well's wall are squared and set in regular courses, while those toward the ouside of the wall are rounded or unworked and not set in regular courses. Mud brick was used as a binding agent between boulders. 19.4.2012 At 85.98 elevation in the well's fill (726), the soil changed. We covered the bottom of 726 with a bit of sieved soil and plastic in order to protect the exposed jug and prevent contamination and then proceeded to take down the well stones of 671. We continued to sieve 100% of the context. One of the stones in the well wall was preliminarily identified as salt (14x13 cm) by Thanos and Thanasis, however further testing confirms that it neither tastes like salt nor does the crystalline structure cause square breaks as would be expected for salt. It also does not disssolve on the tongue. A large amount of ceramic with glass slag inclusions was found. We gathered the pieces and brought them to the museum for further investigation.
