Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   Context 6783 represents a stratum of compact soil partially overlying the Northern extent of NS wall 5431. It was revealed by the excavation of 6781, rubble fill and wall fall, directly above. It is possible that thecontext 6783 overlies NS wall 5431 in an area where the blocks were robbed out or destroyed. The last time this area was excavated was during the 1960s, and it is unclear if theyfound a robbing trench or something of that sort in this location.
The removal of 6783 has revealed the Northern continuation of NS wall 5431, constructed of roughly hewn stones, primarily small to medium in size, ca. 12-16 cm. The hard white layer, also revealed by the excavation of 6781, does not continue to the North or East. This is also possible evidence that there was originally a robbing trench running EW in this area, resulting in the lack of stones of NS wall 5431 as it continues to the North.
