| Description: | Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | Context 6791 is an ashy layer revealed by the excavation of 6790. The ashy layer cuts a hard, reddish-brown layer that was also revealed by 6790, and which continues to the North. The ashy layer, 6791, continues to the South. In 2008, the excavators uncovered several ashy deposits and lenses throughout this area. As we excavate 6791, we will see if the ashy layer here extends to these other areas. As we excavate the ashy layer, we are uncovering several different strata underneath. There is a compact reddish-brown stratum that appears in patches along the Eastern half of the area. Near the middle of the Eastern section, there is a semi-compact clayey soil area. In the SE area, there is a reddish brown fill with lots of rubble and debris. Along most of the Western half of the section, there is a loose stratum, dark reddish-brown and dark brownish-black in color. The entire area underneath the ashy layer is uneven and jumbled. | |
