Description:   The context shape in plan is irregular. The top break of the cut is gradual. The sides of the cut are convex. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: Truncated by robbing trench cut 6762.
Notes:   Context 6796 is an irregularly shaped cut along the northern face of structure 6738 in the room west of the courtyard of the Byzantine house. It was revealed during the removal of context 6793 and is truncated to the east by cut 6762. Because cut 6796 covers a small part of the room and does not run the length of structure 6738 it is difficult to interpret. Possibly it is a robbing trench for something associated with structure 6738 or the small series of stones on the western side of trench 6761. Perhaps this cut also relates to the foundation of structure 6738. Where cut 6796 is at its narrovwest is where there is a junction between two blocks from 6738. Excavation revealed this cut did run along the whole northern face of 6738. Cut 6796 is widest to the east and narrows as it runs west. It almost appears as if this trench was dug to accommodate each specific block individually.
