| Description: | Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt. | |
| Notes: | The top of the deposit revealed an initial hard and dry layer of soil which broke into large clumps. This is most likely from exposure to the sun. 6841 the area north of the E-W drain 6788 is being excavated after we hit a new context of soil full of tile in 6832. We are digging here because the context below 6832 could be earlier than the cut filled with 6832. After coming down on a harder surface with white soil we changed. A copper piece was found. The white soil is bedrock that slopes unevenly in one area to the west. The deposit continues under the wall 100087 to the east along which we left a martyr. In the clean up defining the western edge next to the foundation trench for one of the Frankish piers (6274) a sculpted fragment of the right side of a face was found (S 2010 2). | |
