Description:   The context shape in plan is sub-rectangular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is gradual. The base of the cut is tapered blunt point. Truncation: 6947.
Notes:   Context 6945 was opened to investigate a foundation trench for wall 5562 in the room NW of the courtyard. This cut was recognized while digging context 6941; we came down upon 2 cuts - one for the foundation trench for wall 6130, truncated by pit 6116, and this cut, 6945, the foundation trench for wall 5562. The fill in these cuts (6947 and 6945) was lighter than that excavated in 6941, and the boundaries between the contexts was clear. The context was closed when we reached the bottom of the cut, characterized by a harder soil. The cut was roughly rectangular, curving up to the NW and NE at the ends.
