Corinth Basket: Nezi Field, context 6946 Collection: | | Corinth | Type: | | Basket | Name: | | Nezi Field, context 6946 | Area: | | Nezi Field | Context Type: | | Fill | Title: | | Fill in foundation trench for wall 6130 | Category: | | Deposit | Notebook: | | 1104 | Context: | | 6946 | Page: | | 0 | Date: | | 2010/05/17 | Stratum: | | 5-10% inclusions: tile, pottery, pebbles (all sizes), cobbles | Description: | | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt. | Notes: | | 6946 was opened after excavation of 6941 revealed several deposits seemingly associated with walls 6321, 5562, and 6130; we excavated 6944, thought to be a foundation trench fill for wall 6321, but it turned out not to be a foundation trench. The area of 6946 appeared to truncate an E-W strip of fill (now 6951 and thought to be foundation trench fill for wall 5562), so it was excavated first. The area was very small because the wall and trench have been cut by 6116. Excavation proceeded, yielding very little in the way of any pottery or bone. 6946 was closed upon coming down on a level of fill with many visible tile inclusions. 6946 is fill in cut 6947, which is a foundation trench for wall 6130. | Context Pottery: | | Coarseware. ; Cooking ware. stewpot. 1 handle. | Pottery Summary: | | 22 frag(s) 0.15 kg.
