The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is clayey silt. | | Notes: | | This layer of deep reddish brown soil seemed to lie on top of a continuation of the ashy layer excavated as 6949. It did not extend all the way to the southern wall, but a thin strip (c 15cm) of ashy layer was visible there. As we excavated, the layer deepened to the NE, consistent with a dumped fill. It ultimately revealed a continuation of the ashy layer.
