Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the NE. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   This layer of deep reddish brown soil seemed to lie on top of a continuation of the ashy layer excavated as 6949. It did not extend all the way to the southern wall, but a thin strip (c 15cm) of ashy layer was visible there. As we excavated, the layer deepened to the NE, consistent with a dumped fill. It ultimately revealed a continuation of the ashy layer. The stratigraphy in this region may have been significantly disrupted by the quantity of tree roots which were present, and which had to be chopped and cut during excavation.
