Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 7005 was opened to investigate the dark brown fill to the north and east of the red floor in the room NW of the courtyard, which appears to be bordered by this same red fill at its north (about 4cm wide), which also originally overlaid part of this fill. It appears as though 7005 filled a robbing trench for a rubble wall, as of yet, still covered. Several pieces of marble, unworked, were found in the fill.
20-5-10: It appears as though the dark brown fill cut the reddish soil which underlaid the floor surface (7000), leaving a strip of the red soil running E-W along the edge of the foundation trench (6971) for wall 5562, from wall 6321 to wall 6130. The purpose of this cut and fill is unclear at present. The cut slops down to the NW, and the bottom of the cut is uneven on the W, sort of in a wave pattern.
