The soil color is dark reddish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand. | | Notes: | | 7018 is the large area between walls 6789 and 6821, extending N to the scarp. It is a compact reddish soil with large tile inclusions. It is overlaid by several different contexts, including tile structure 7017 (see Harris matrix). We would like to clarify the relationship between the 2 walls, the robbing trench of wall 6821, and pit 6929. Excavation has continued on 21/5/10, and revealed a new line of stones abutting wall 5562 on the north and structure 6820 to the west. Just north of 6820 is a slightly depressed area ringed with tile (possibly a pit). North of ca 1042N is a sandy compact surface with few inclusions, which may be an external floor surface. Further north is an area of large broken tile.
