| Notes: | Photographs: 2012-87 Coin #33 (El. 86.73) This is the removal of a clay and tile layer W of wall 540. During excavation we found a coin #33 (262.88 E, 1011.17 N, 86.73 elevation). Excavation began in SE by wall 540 and extended N, then W to pier 573. Pass was shallow (ca. 5-10 cm) and exposed blackish soil to S (703), a lighter and softer soil around pit C566 (706) and a harder soil E and N of C566. Along wall 540 and parallel to it, the blackish soil in the S continued N until meeting rectangular cut with large squared stone and center cutting (drawn but not labeled on 2009 final plans) bordering area "North of Nezi"and thought to be from old 20th c. excavations. | |
