| Description: | The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt. | |
| Notes: | This dark context was a shallow pit, revealed by the removal of its friendly overlaying pit 665, and just to the east of pit 704. It would appear that the area to the north of apse 539 was frequented by such cuts and deposits, suggesting a helpful area for discarding unwanted material for the occupants of the adjacent buildings. A fair amount of iron and glass was found, along with charcoal which apparently gave the context is dark colour. | |
