Corinth Basket: Nezi Field, context 7105 Collection: | | Corinth | Type: | | Basket | Name: | | Nezi Field, context 7105 | Area: | | Nezi Field | Context Type: | | Fill | Title: | | Fill | Category: | | Deposit | Notebook: | | 1104 | Context: | | 7105 | Page: | | 0 | Date: | | 2010/06/04 | Lot: | | Lot 2010-038 | Stratum: | | ceramic sherds, bone, some subrounded course pebbles and subrounded cobbles, ca. 20 % inclusions | Description: | | The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt. | Notes: | | This small triangular patch of fill was left after the removal of the large rubble deposit, 7075. It was likely in place when the cut for this rubble pit was made, but unlike the area West of the rubble pit that contains many flooring and fill layers, this dumped fill appears to be contiguous down to the level of the lowest visible floor. Because at least one of the hard reddish leveling layers to the West of this abutted the fill, it seems to have been dumped in the room before the activity that produced the multiple floor and floor leveling laminae which were later cut through by 7083, a cut which came very close to this fill. So far, this would be the earliest dumped fill in the room. Included in this field is a 40 x 30 cm stone with a lifting hole in it. This is in the room NE of the courtyard. | Context Pottery: | | Fineware. premedieval2 bodysherds. ; Cooking ware. triangular rim stew pot (1100-1270)1 rim. 1 handle.
