Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This is the foundation trench for the south wall of the Ottoman House (nb 252, nb 262). We found the trench during the cleaning of the area in context 710. We removed the south east corner of the foundation trench. At bottom of upper level of fill, a reddish clayey soil appeared in the N bordering the wall of the house. To the S, however, a darker brown, softer silty soil appeared to cut this red soil. On the W end of the trench, the red soil was cut by a lighter gray soil which appears to continue above along the W baulk of Nezi until meeting C 272. It is bordered on its E side by two large boulders stacked on each other with a third, smaller one to their E. These are roughly in line with the large squared boulder encountered at the bottom of 639 (Inside C272), which may have slipped from a wall running N-S along this line.
