Description:   The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   This context begun after rain on 18 April 2012 clarified changes in soil color. Context is a reddish patch bordering C 272 and laid on 724. Coin #45 found in excavation ( E: 257.72, N: 1011.95. El: 86.70). At end of context a black clay and tile layer was found running North to South from C 272 to the well. On the east it is bordered by a harder soil W of pier 573 and to W a red clay. For removal of this black and clay tile layer see context 728, which is probably the same as 724.
26 April 2012: Perusal of the 2009 notebooks has shown that context 630 (early 11th/late 12th c.) above corresponded almost exactly to 727.
