Notes:   We have opened a new basket in the pit begun with B74 because Billy began to find increasing deposits of carbon/ash. Because the fill is so rich in organic material, we are going to water sieve whatever we do not dry sieve. We began first thing of the morning of 07 May. Bill continued to find tiles. Lydia (who has excenstive experience in such things, see B71 et al.) commented that as this pit deepens, the sides are remaining remarkably vertical. Most pottery coming out is cookware, and there are not a few bones. Currently this seems to be a rubbish pit associated with the clay floor's structure, since the pit is definitely cut into the floor, and was found UNDER the destruction layer (B51). Bill reached a level at which the soft soil he was digging went off in every direction under the cut. Since the cut had disappeared, we closed the basket.
