Description: | The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes: | We have begun to dig context 857 in order to level down the platform to the now-tarped partially excavated pit 860. We will then proceed to level the south side of the platform to the same level before continuing to excavate pit 860, which appears to have cut into 857. The soil in 857 appears to be hard-packed levelling fill. The bottom of 857 resulted in a clearly defined black pit surrounded by red soil. It is possible that 857 was a larger context in antiquity, but it was cut by 844 to the East and by 860 to the South, resulting in its small, rectangular shape. It is possible that it was also cut by the foundation trench of the South Wall of the Turkish House.
