The excavation of this context has forced our work bench to the south. We will resume digging this context on Monday.
11 June 2010
This morning we continued excavating this context. It is made of a black soil, with large quantities of tiles and stones. The removal of 897 is revealing a hard-packed reddish soil under its E side. This layers seems to continue all around Well 742.
897 came on a black soil which seems to be the filling of a pit, whose boundaries were cut in a reddish soil, S the robbing trench 749. Souther this pit 897 came on a black soil, different in composition from the possible bothros (900), and separate from it by the reddish soil.
Correction: after diggin 900 we realizaed that is was not a pit, but still part of context 897.
