Description:   Top slope of the context is steep down to the W. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context was a cleaning of rainwash, which had fallen into the pit (cut 870) over the course of the year. We did not sieve the soil but did save ceramics and one bone. The soil was darker and more loosely packed than the layer underneath it. We stopped digging when we reached this lower layer. Some of the fill removed in this context came from the higher levels to the east, at the edge of the pit. We dig this eastern area with the wash inside the pit because these areas appeared to be part of the same continuous rainwash.
