Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   The soil was exposed by the removal of 973. Having observed pieces of carbon during excavation and an olive pip picked up by Panos, we decided to take a soil sample for water sieving.
In the N area of the context a roughly E-W lense of ashy sediment became visible (979); this ash deposit was deposited in the underlying compact yellowish brown sediment, which extends over a wide area (978).
