Description:   Top slope of the context is level down to the N. The soil color is dark brownish black. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   This context contains the final layer of the baulk left under wall 540. We reached the level of surrounding fill on both east and west sides of the baulk, thus reuniting the two arbitrary areas of the excavation created by pedestalling the wall. The fill was firm and contained the context upon reaching the harder packed, dark, yellowish brown layer below, which scraped to a surface level.
