Title:   Clay across northern center of room
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1110
Context:   320
Date:   2016/04/11
Stratum:   c.20% inclusion, small stones (angular)
Description:   The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes:   11/4/16
We begin removing the compacted matrix across the northern center portion of the room. We begin at the small scarp created by the excavation of deposit 287. This thin layer (c.5cm thick) lies on top of the compact surface (Panos calls it a patoma/floor) exposed by 287. There is still some modern material in the matrix (glass) --unclear at this moment if present because the matrix is still modern or if it got trampled into the ancient surface.
As we move further north, the matrix becomes more compact and continues to pop off the underlying surface fairly easily. There are green streaks through some of the more compacted chunks. There are some pieces of modern iron (can) and modern pottery, indicating that this thin layer is still Broneer material (probably welll-trampled soil from the filling operation of the two cuts along the west wall).
This matrix runs up to the edge of the patch of stones (326) in the NE corner, which likely also sit on top of the floor/surface. From the profile, they appear to float on a layer of soil slightly above the more compacted surface.

There is a higher concentration of pottery in 320 than in the previously excavated deposits left by Broneeer (e.g. 310). There is a lower concentration of bone, however.
We leave a section next to the wall for micromorphology purpose--skin baulk. We also begin photogrammetry with this deposit.
