Corinth Basket: South Stoa, context 448 Collection: | | Corinth | Type: | | Basket | Name: | | South Stoa, context 448 | Area: | | South Stoa | Context Type: | | cut | Title: | | Pit in N of 4R(W), S of Broneer Wall | Notebook: | | 1110 | Context: | | 448 | Date: | | 2016/04/19 | Description: | | The context shape in plan is sub-rectangular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are mixed. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is sloping. | Notes: | | Initially we believed that this cut and its fill had something to do with Broneer's activities in the surrounding area (see notes for Context 444). This belief was substantiated, at the time, in part by the nature of the fill (which was darker and looser than that above). After seeing the material within context 444, as well as the number of cut pits in stereo in the area (Cuts 440, 447, 480, 487, 492), we now believe this cut to belong to that general pattern (i.e. people sometime before the 1st C - mabye even in the Greek period- cutting pits into stereo). | Grid: | | 336.8-335.2E, 1085.7-1086N | XMin: | | 335.2 | XMax: | | 336.8 | YMin: | | 1085.7 | YMax: | | 1086 | Site: | | Corinth | City: | | Ancient Corinth | Country: | | Greece | Masl: | | 80.99-81.4m. | References: | | Image: digital 2016 0242
