Description:   The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt. Structure materials: limestone. Material size: c. .40 m. Material finish: roughly hewn. Material bonding: none extant.
Notes:   this structure consisted of two large, roughly worked stones in the southernmost portion of 506. panos and james think they may be the remnants of an earlier structure, reused as fill by the builders of the stoa; james thinks the large blocks in the lower courses of wall 459 may also be reused remnants of an earlier structure. Guy instead thinks that structure 510 may have been placed by the builders of the stoa as a dam to allow them to fill the west foundation trench without interfering with or falling into the south foundation trench, on which they were still working. We incline towards guy's interpretation and therefore gave the blocks a structure number.
The same soil appears to run under structure 510 as soil that made up 505, which indicates that they were deposited by the builders of the stoa.
We removed this structure 6/5. the soil between and under the stones was darker than some of the fill of 506, but this fill was very mixed.
