Stratum:   50% small reddish brown compacted spherical chunks, some carbon
Description:   Top slope of the context is even. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes:   We changed contexts arbitrarily after about 25cm of digging in context 56. By chance, when we began to dig 57, there was an immediate soil change. The soil has no pieces of yellowish clay in it, unlike the 4th - 10th deposits from the top. The soil is therefore looser and softer. It contains small pieces of a crumbly reddish brown material that gives the soil a reddish hue, as well as asignificant quantities of carbon and a bit of ash. There is no change in the amount of pottery present - there is still very little. There are noticeably larger and more pieces of carbon in this context compared to others. Also there are some yellow clay pieces still but much larger. The soil became more clayey (again perhaps the same yellow clay) and we changed contexts.
