Description:   The context shape in plan is sub-rectangular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: Truncated by burial of inhumation 994.
Notes:   This cut was found in the course of exposing skeleton 998. It represents the bottom of a grave earlier than Grave 2016-07, but was not given a new grave number because it is contained by cut 993, which defines Grave 2016-07 and this cut is highly disturbed by the burials for that grave. This indicates memory of the burial spot, hence its reuse. This cut (1000) was defined on the N side by the stone lining on the north side of Grave 2016-07. The bottom of the cut appears to be exactly at the bottom of these stones. This suggests the stones were placed earlier than the burials in this cut. This cut contained the remains of at least two individuals represented by two left humeri in skeleton context 998.
