Notes:   This was another fill level in the southeast corner of the church. The area excavated is contained by Wall 930, Wall 927, and Wall 929. The marble dust escavated from the fill above (1021) was no longer present in this level.

This area was cut in the west by the mixed fill deposit 984, cut 985, which overlaid Grave 2016-07 and grave 2016-08.
Grave 2016-05 was within the area that contained this fill.

We were not able to return and finish this context today because Wall 927 and Wall 929 were being consolidated in that corner. The lifting of large stones above the head of the pickman would have been too dangerous and later the soil was wet for most of the day. We were only able to return to this context at the very end of the day and some loose dirt remains. The removal of the SE corner of this context, along Walls 927 and 929, revelaed lime cement, which could be the same subfloor as Context 1029, but we need to compare elevations first.

We finished the loose soil of the context and closed it. The remvoal of 1026 revealed a deposit with large chunks of tile in it, which may be in a cut. This will be explored as deposit 1033.
Coin 177 found in sieve.
