Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 1030
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 1030
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Context Type:   Deposit
Title:   Fill with Lime Inclusions
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1110
Context:   1030
Date:   2016/06/13
Stratum:   few angular, platy pebbles, few lime inclusions, rare angular, tabular cobbles; over all inclusions: 20%
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   [D. Smotherman] This context is different than the layer above it by fewer overall inclusions, more lime inclusions and its redder color. A couple of large, angular cobbles are in this context, but may belong to the lining of Grave 2014-04. Cleaning of the soil from this context below, on the bottom of 2014-04, also revealed that that grave was not completely excavated in 2014. In order to prevent contamination and protect the burial, a geotextile was placed. Further excavation of 1030 reveals a line of stones just insde the line of wall 21 that goes with the lines of stones exposed in 2014 and likely related to the burial activity (or activities) in Graves 1990-41A-C, 2014-04, 2014-07. Kostos believes there are more burials lower in this area. This context was closed when the rocks revealed a wall (stone lining for Grave 2014-04). There remains fill between Wall 21 and this structure (1032), but this will be a separate context (1034) on account of the fact that it no longer includes cobbles.
