Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   132
Date:   2014/04/22
Stratum:   10% bone, pottery ceramics, coarse pebbles.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is light greyish yellow. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clay.
Notes:   We open this context to explore the pale yellow clay exposed in contexts 101,103, and 118. We associate this clay with melt from the superstructure of the wall. We start excavation of this clay from the patch above the wall poking out of the north at a lower elevation (structure 135) and chase it west through the matrix of the rubble pile north of structure 110. We associate this rubble pile with that excavated in 11, 116 and 118, but this pile was kept separate because the matrix was composed of this clay. The clay itself is very pure with little silt and has a distinct yellow color. We reveal more of the rubble and more of the NS wall poking out of the north scarp (structure 135) but the lcay is not was extensive as we thought it would be. Removal of the clay also revealed what appears to be two square strucutres abutting the NS wall poking out of the north scarp (structure 135). We stop excavation after removing the clay from atop these stones.
Later note: The two square structures turned out to be a single feature abutting both 110 (NS wall) and 135 (EW wall). This feature is now structure 189. We revealed this structure further in 133, 134 and 138.
