Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 186
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Fill of pit NW of structure 94
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   186
Date:   2014/04/25
Stratum:   20% large angular cobbles; small to large subrounded and angular pebbles; bone; ceramic and tiles
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. The soil color is dark brownish black. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   The pit is located to the northwest of Structure 94; roughly in the same location as Deposit 107/Cut 108.
We are removing the fill of the pit because it seems to be a clear context, in a very confusing area. There was a debate if the fill of the pit is the same at Deposit 180 or Deposit 167, or different. There was also the question if the fill of the pit was the same as the fill left in the northeast corner and if this fill continues below a hard packed surface.
Over the weekend it rained a lot and it became very difficult to see soil changes. Nonetheless, the workem removed the rest of the fill Monday morning. The workmen tried to sieve but the wet nature of the soil made this task difficult so we cannot be sure that it was 100% sieved.
After the fill was removed it does appear that this is a cut into courtyard surfaces, possibly two different courtyard surfaces. The fill does not appear to tbe the same as the fill in the northeast. This is mainly based on the lack of material cutlure, mostly bone but also ceramics.
At this point we have come to the end of the session and have stopped excavation.
