Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 209
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 209
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Context Type:   Deposit
Title:   Substratum of a road/West of Unit 2, Room A
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   209
Date:   2014/05/06
Stratum:   12% of rounded, sub-rounded, and spherical coarse pebbles and cobbles; ceramics; glass; bones
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Our aim was to remove the surface of road 193, but our pickman proceeded to remove the substratum at the same time. We stopped him and treated the substratum, which remained unexcavated, as a single context. The substratum 209 had less inclusions than the road surface 193. The elevation levels are consistent and uniform. The removal of substratum 209 revealed the same road surface that the removal of 193 had unearthed. If we had removed the complete substratum of road 193, its coordinates would have been: N 1071.61, S 1067.68, E 98.54, W. 95.35.
