Stratum:   70% inclusions, mostly smaller pebbles, small stones, small amount of glazed ceramic.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish red. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 214 was a floor-like surface in the southern third of room 7, abutting WC 157 on the W and robbed-out segment of WC 59 (cleaning context 192). The light, clayey-silt soil was hard-packed on the surface, which was abraded and appeared heavily used. We hypothesize that context 214 and context 202 (which was a similar clayey fill covering 214) were working or construction floors. The N. end of Room 7 was filled with lenses of inclusion-rich fill, comprised primarily of building material (broken tile, cobbles, building stone), and was excavated as context 210. During the excavation, part of the clayey surface to the S. was taken accidentally. We stopped digging south as soon as the mistake was recognized, closed context 210 and continued excavation to the south as context 214.
This was dug out of sequence. At the end of the season, it was realized that scarp from 214 probably extended N into 210.
