Material finish: mixed: fragments of well-cover and column drum are worked and carved; the boulders and cobbles are roughly hewn. Material construction: coursed: one, single course. Material bonding: none. Features: spolia used as capstones. | Notes: | | We decided to remove the drain capstones (232) in order to reveal the fill inside the drain. The material that was used as capstones are boulders of large size (0.43 x 0.31 x 0.10; 0.57 x 0.33 x 0.14; 0.50 x 0.35 x 0.15), boulders of medium size (0.38 x 0.28 x 0.08), cobbles (0.18 x 0.12 x 0.10; 0.16 x 0.07 x 0.08), well-covers of medium size (0.56 x 0.32 x 0.4) and ancient material in second use, like parts of a column drum (0.58 x 0.39 x 0.2; 0.61 x 0.44 x 0.24). The top elevation of the well-cover fragments was 85.83, 85.78, 85.76, 85.72 and the bottom elevation 85.69, 85.71, 85.69, 85.68. The four well-cover fragments weren't found close to each other, but they bond. It is noteworthy that the well-cover fragments and the column drum fragments were located in the part of the drain in the courtyard. The dismantling of drain 232 constituted the removal of a small strosis of soil characterized by less than 5% of inclusions, very few sherds and bones.
