Title:   Deposit under stone slabs in church
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   25
Date:   2014/04/09
Stratum:   Inclusions: 10% total; ceramic; organic (roots and land snails); stone (pebbles, angular and irregular).
Description:   The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Context 25 is a deposit under horizontal stone slabs in the church, previously excavated during the 1990 field season (see NB 831, p. 53). These stone slabs were lifted under cleaning (context 7) in this area of the church since it was revealed that they were floating. Work proceeded from the N by trowel at a depth of 5 cm in a single pass. Organic inclusions of roots and snails were moderate in frequency. Ceramic inclusions were scarce but were collected. The soil matrix and inclusions of this deposit are comparable to the cleaning (context 7) and should therefore be associated with it.
