Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 270
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 270
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Dump on courtyard surface
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   270
Date:   2014/05/13
Stratum:   20% of rounded and angular medium and coarse pebbles; spherical cobbles; ceramics; bones
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We decided to remove another patch to the NE of drain capstones 232, because it was laid upon the surfaces of the courtyard to the SE and NE. The context's limit to the north was three stones, which were floating. We removed the stones (bottom elevation of stones: 85.84) and the brown soil beneath them. The removal of surface 270 revealed a reddish soil, which probably got this texture because it was burned. It is possible that this reddish surface can be associated with the reddish surface that was revealed by the removal of courtyard surface 264. Those two surfaces are physically connected. They are not entirely flat, but this part of the surface is slightly sloping. The bottom elevation of 264 is 85.80-85.77, and the bottom elevation of 270 is 85.82-85.77.
