Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 282 Collection: | | Corinth | Type: | | Basket | Name: | | Temple E, Southeast, context 282 | Area: | | Temple E, Southeast | Title: | | Butterflied skull along bottom of grave cut | Category: | | Deposit | Notebook: | | 1108 | Context: | | 282 | Date: | | 2014/05/21 | Description: | | Top slope of the context is level. | Notes: | | This skull was discovered after removing the secondary bone pile and while delineating the bottom of the grave cut (188) for Grave 2014-04 just east of the threshold of the church narthex. This skull had been disturbed, possibly during the creation of this grave cut, at which time it seems likely that the top of the skull was sheared off to one side, giving this skull a butterflied-open appearance. It seems possible if not likely that this skull is associated with the remains and burial activity in the lower grave exposed at the bottom of grave 2014-04 though it was redeposited during the later use of this grave into its present position. It was photographed in situ and removed, and can be associated with these earlier bones at a later date if possible. | Period: | | No precise date (NPD) | Grid: | | 123.41E1070.77N | XMax: | | 123.41 | YMax: | | 1070.77 | Site: | | Corinth | City: | | Ancient Corinth | Country: | | Greece | Masl: | | 84.84-84.96m. |
