Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 284
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Clearing of top of wall
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   284
Date:   2014/05/15
Stratum:   Inclusions of tiles, some sub-rounded coarse pebbles, pottery, and little bone (approximately 7%)
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   After having exposed the preserved western extent of the wall we turned our attention to a small clayey deposit still covering the top of the wall. We remove this deposit as context 284 and exposed the preserved top of the wall underneath.
A large coin (2014-117) was found in this context during the cleaning of the top of the wall. Some pottery, bone, and iron was collected in this context.
The wall running E-W now has its preserved top exposed from E106.45 to E111.07. It is still unclear what happened to this structure further W as there is no trace of it in the cut of the pit. Perhaps further excavation to the W of the pit will reveal its continuation.
