Title: | Robbing trench for N-S wall 291 west of road
Notebook: | 1108 | |
Context: | 294 | |
Date: | 2014/05/14 | |
Description: | The context shape in plan is sub-rectangular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is tapered blunt point. Truncation: The cut was disturbed by the modern water pipe to the north.
Notes: | This context serves as the cut for deposits 287 and 290. The cut is clearly defined by its hard edges on the sides. It comes to a flat surface at the bottom and to what is preserved of Wall 291. Later note (27/05/2014): We cannot date the robbing event of the wall, because a modern pit dug in the 1995 excavations (basket 57, NB 839) disturbed the top of the cut, with the result that we no longer know the level that the robbing trench was cut from.
