Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 30
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 30
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Road surface, 1st from top
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   30
Date:   2014/04/09
Stratum:   20-30% medium angular cobbles; majority are tile fragments; bone; ceramics
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We begun by removing the upper most layer of road which was in the north eastern area, to the west and north of Wall 1 (NB 839). This road surface was revealed by a thin layer of soil accumulation. There was a road removed here in NB 839 (pg 99) which may be associated with this remaining road surface. Removal of this surface revealed more the compact cobble road layer which Deposit 19 also revealed. It is possible that the cobble road is a continuation of the road found further to the south between the two buildings (the shops). After removing the raod in the north, it was shown that the road surface along the western edge of this area is a different level of road and will be removed as a separate context (Deposit 33).
