Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 362
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Deposit around roof tiles
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   362
Date:   2014/05/21
Stratum:   Soil color modifier ranged from medium to dark. Inclusions of small tile fragments, some coarse pebbles, little pottery and bone (less than 5%).
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brownish red. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   After the removal of the final lense of collapsed wall debris (context 350), we have exposed a clayey deposit with roof tiles and floor tiles highly concentrated within it in the SW quadrant of the excavation area. We first, however, excavate the L-shaped area around this deposit to explore if the tiles continue underneath it. We soon find the roof and floor tile fragments continuing underneath this layer. The soil of context 362 is quite dry, firm, and reddish in color. It is also surprisingly sterile. Therefore, we dry sieve only 50% of this context.
One coin (2014-158) was found in the dry sieve. Very little pottery, bone/shell, iron and glass was collected in this context.
