Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is light greenish black. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   This is the fill of a pit cut into the leveling fill below floor 413, south of wall 110. From above there is a clear color distinction. The pickman described it as redder than the surrounding soil. Once we started digging, the soil appears green to me. This pit was truncated by the excavations of the 1990s. The soil in the fill is less clayey than that above. It is the same soil throughout the fill, but it is harder at the center of the pit than around the edges. We continue to excavate it as one fill. The pit narrows as we go down and the soil becomes uniformly soft. The fill is very rocky. Through the scarp there was a visible distinction between the fill and the surrounding. Through digging we reveal more of the edges and the bottom of the plaster bin. This pit cut through the south edge of the bin.
Additional notes: This fill is probably a continuation of one dug in 1994, NB869 B71, Lot 1994-26. The pit continued an additional 4m to the south and was cut by NB869 B40, a modern dumping pit. (RB 22/6/14)
