Stratum:   angular coarse pebbles (20%), ceramics (2%)
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greenish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   This is the second floor level in the South Hall in Unit 2, revealed by the removal of context 527. The top surface of the pit left after the excavations of 1991 may be related to this level, as it seems to slope down into the pit rather than to be a real cut. We will excavate the pit separately to be safe. Like the level above, the one is relatively poor in inclusions, mostly rocks. We paused work in this context to remove the cement slab (542) by the doorway, which overlaid this deposit and should have been removed previously. Under floor 532 we find a distinct hard surface with many visible inclusions. This probably represents a leveling fill rather than another floor.
Animla bones, 0.7 kg, thrown.
