Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   This is the fill of the foundation trench for N-S running wall 557, the eastern boundary of Room 2, Unit 2. In the southern portion of this trench was a small accumulation of clay (possibly the s end of hearth 581) . It appears that this foundation trench was covered by a floor (immediately covered by deposists 577 and 579) that extended west throughout the room (also comprising deposits 576 and 573 - see notes for these contexts) and covered the foundation trench for wall 559 as well, so these walls appear to be roughly contemporary.
