Lot:   Lot 2015-018
Stratum:   10%, medium Pebbles, Rounded Spherical.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SW. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   (KTT) 9:20 We begin clearing some of the fill in the S half of the Room. This is the clast of the compacted surface left over from the 90's excavations. While this deposit seems to overlay and be separate from the contexts excavated and not excavated, it is also hoped that the removal of this last encrusted layer will give us a better understanding of the deposits beneath it and how we should proceed in the rest of the Room. It seems, at least, that in the E portion of the context, more of the yellow layer beneath the 681 extension is being revealed. Again we will have to explore the interface between this yellow deposit and the brown deposit beneath 681 proper.
More of the yellowish layer has been revealed, though the brown soil under 681 seems to continue around the pier and may continue to the south.
Better sweeping has revealed a reddish layer under the S extent of context 693. How this relates to the brown and yellow soils remains to be explored.
In discussion with Guy and Panos, we have decided to take the yellow layer which scraping has revealed lies on top of the brown layer revealed elsewhere.
