Title:   Stony fill in S half of Room 8
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   796
Date:   2015/05/22
Lot:   Lot 2015-022
Stratum:   30% inclusions , sub rounded tabular, medium pebbles. Lots of tile and bone.
Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are taking our first pass in the S half of Room 8. Panos considers this to be the same soil as what was removed in Context 786. Indeed, they seem to be so, though this context seems to be slightly lighter in color and more compact, probably due to wheelbarrow and foot traffic in this part of the room this year. Panos has revealed a compact sandy layer in the SW corner of the room. We are revealing more of it, but it seems to stop abruptly in the SW corner. We will have to sweep to see if the brownish layer revealed elsewhereunder 796/786 is on top or below this layer, especially in the SE corner where 796 seems to have overlain a browner more sterile soil.
Having finished the pass we will shovel and sweep to determine next steps.
