Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 79
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 79
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Cleaning of western half of the NW passage
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   79
Date:   2014/04/14
Stratum:   10% medium angular stones; ceramics
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. The soil color is dark brownish black. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   While cleaning the courtyard, it was determined that the soil to the west of the NW passage was much harder and more compact. To be safe, we are removing it as cleaning, but as a different context number from the rest of the courthyard (Deposit 66). It is unclear how much is backfill and how much is exposed top soil. This area is east of Wall 8, west of the drainage channel, and with an arbitrary south extent.
As we move north from the arbitrary south boundary of our excavated area (along the east side of Wall 8), we have revelaed an elongated oval shaped outline with stones in the middle. Our workman believes this may be a grave. For now it will be left until we finish cleaning this area.
