Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 821
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 821
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Compacted fill central pit Rooms 8-9
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   821
Date:   2015/06/03
Stratum:   60% angular spherical coarse pebbles. Important presence of large stones (c. 20 cm long)
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is dark brownish yellow. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   8:40: This context is a different throw in the filling of the pit in rooms 8-9. The presence of large stones in the description of inclusions must not be related to the rubble layer described in 819. Although the boundary between this and 821 is diffuse, the composition of the soil and, mainly, the relationship between each of them and the cut of the pit clearly differentiates them. 821 is a filling of the pit while the rubble layer clearly continues under the profile of the W edge of the pit. Some of the stones recovered are even of larger dimensions (c. 0.25x0.15 m).
