Description:   The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Context is differentiated fill along W wall of church. Work proceeded from W (along scarp of previously excavated grave 1990-41C, see NB 835, pp.100-115) with small pick by Tasos to a depth of 3-5 cm. The N extent of the context was determined by soil change detected at the S edge of the stone structure along the W wall. Inclusions of ceramic roof tiles and marble chips were found throughout, whereas bone was concentrated to SW of context by prev. excavated grave pit. All ceramics and bone were collected, along with some glass and a few bronze objects and iron nails. During the second pass, the E edge of the cut became more clear and the stone slab in this are was revealed to be an upside down column capital (top el. = 85.39m, bottom el. = 85.24). The context was closed when a soil change was detected.
