Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 861
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Surface across room 6
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   861
Date:   2015/06/11
Stratum:   30%. Tiles, ceramics, coarse pebbles, some rounded, some angular. Bone.
Description:   The soil color is light reddish white. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   Soil is very dry. Next layer down, where soil is redder, may be a continuation of the same layer, juts less dry; however, it does look different in the scarp. Soil comes out in clumps, must be broken with pick; but beneath the hard, dry surface, soil is softer and can be removed with a trowel.
At north side, we come down on cuttings for several possible pits, or new layers.
At west, just south of pit 8, a possible grave or foundation trench for wall 8.
Excavation began the morning of 12/6, before AMS and PJK arrived to the site.
Thanassis also did some scraping inside pit 8 and grave 2015-08 in order to clarify stratigraphy of the above levels; this was removed as cleaning dirt and not sieved.
